BETWEEN THE CARDS - WORKSHOPS AND MEETINGS "Cartographies of the post-colonial landscape"
- CAMP & Shunya Collective – Country of the sea, 2016, cyanotype, Clark House Initiative
A workshop organised by Françoise Vergès (political scientists, Chair of Global South(s) at the Collège d’Etudes Mondiales), in partnership with the Fondation Maison des Sciences de l’Homme.
These sessions will also be an opportunity to meet with our guests : artists, architects and researchers.
"Cartographies of the post-colonial landscape" is a part of a series of workshops seeks to experiment and speculate on different collective gestures (objects, stories, documents) and dismemberments, on collage and re-assembly, notably in museum and exhibition contexts from the postcolonial perspective.
The objective of the workshop is to consider the contours, reliefs and borders of the map of French post-coloniality, considering its multiple temporalities and spatialities. We will collectively space this mapping of post-coloniality through the examination of several critical concepts – frontiers / camps, slavery / migration, hybridity / creolization / language, centre / periphery, suburb / city / metropolis / overseas, routes / war, land / sea / ocean, memory – formatted with sounds, images, books, articles, maps, free thinking (recipes, songs, flags, geological maps, imaginary maps, travelogues, headlines, photographs, films, musical instruments, figurines...). Anything that can figure, even partially, in a creative and ephemeral way; anything that can involve various approaches, references and imaginary.
Registration required. Limited places available.
Tuesday June 7, from 5pm to 7pm : Public restitution of the workshop.
This workshop is organized in partnership with the Collège d’Etudes Mondiales at the Fondation Maison des Sciences de l’Homme.
