’Y-The Black Issue’ looks for new collaborative processes in publishing and exhibition making. The publication is a script for the exhibition motivated by the desire to combat the darkness and cold through the gathering of fragments of conversations, poetry and images about SAD (seasonal affective disorder), melancholy, northern lights, weather, countryside or second residencies.

The class will examine print culture in the digital era: the potentials new technologies offer for renovating traditional forms of reading and viewing, strategies for making use of them, historical precedents for the current transformation of print and the publics formed around it, and the evolution of what we call publishing—an industry becoming disaggregated and thus redefined in relation to individual and social (self-publishing), rather than corporate, production.
