"Process Dat Sound!" is a series of events that will run over several weeks, as part of L’été culturel initiated by the DRAC Île-de-France, from July 24th to September 4th, 2020, in the heart of the 13th arrondissement of Paris!
Hosted by Bétonsalon — Centre d’art et de recherche & Théâtre 13, this project brings into dialogue an experimental battle between renowned Parisian hip hop dancers, musicians from the avant-garde scene, and The Eyes of the Great Mantle of Night, an immersive musical and visual installation that takes us into the canopies of the forests of Europe and Amazonia.
The Eyes of the Great Mantle of Night is a musical and video installation imagined by drummer and musician Uriel Barthélémi. The display takes the spectator to the heart of the forest. In a majestic slowness, the images of canopies from Europe and Amazonia unfold but are regularly modified by the spectators’ sticks: a drum set placed at their disposal allows them to influence the visual narration via an interactive system.
Intense, spirited and meditative performances by the musician highlight this suspended dive into the canopy, inviting the spectator to travel and reflect on our relationship to the forest in our contemporary rhythms of life.
